Son issues plea after 'beautiful mum' Elaine McArthur goes missing

The son of a missing Edinburgh woman has issued a heartfelt plea for her safe return. Elaine McArthur, 48, was last seen on Crewe Road North in Pilton at around 12.40pm on Saturday. Police in Corstorphine have said they are concerned for the welfare of Ms McArthur, who is described as vulnerable. “My mum is an incredible, intelligent woman, former midwife, lecturer and nurse, and has always had the best interests at heart of those around her,” son Harry McArthur, 22, told the Evening News. “Anybody who knows her can vouch that she loves myself and my sister Rebecca more than anything in the world and has always been a terrific mother in spite of some personal problems she has been battling across the past few years. “She's a lifelong Hibs fan and used to play football to a high standard when she was younger. She is living in Pilton at the moment with her brother, and my sister and I have been grateful for how well they have taken care of her in recent times. “We really appreciate the tremendous efforts of the police, and people on social media who have shared, and it gives us hope that we can get our beautiful mum home safely.” Elaine McArthur is described as white, 5ft 2in tall, with a slim build and long blonde hair tied up. She was last seen wearing a khaki green waterproof jacket, blue jeans, green trainers and carrying a green rucksack. Inspector Scott Kennedy of Corstorphine Police Station said: “Elaine has not been seen since 12.40pm on 18 April and we are concerned for her welfare. “I would ask anyone who has seen Elaine, or recognises her description, to contact police as soon as they can. “Likewise I would ask Elaine, if she does see this message, to get in touch to let us know she is ok."
