Anything I have booked during Covid has always been full price or partial deposit, even strawberry picking last weekend was £2 per person deposit to compensate for no shows. I would expect if I was to book a restaurant in these times to pay a deposit. Deborah Dore This happens to my business and if it continues it will finish us off. We simply are not set up to take deposits as we manage our own booking system. We only have seven tables inside and sometimes people just don’t show up to take a table we’ve have three or four more booking requests for. Eugene Clarke I think we all now understand the need to provide card details and have some sort of deposit or charge system in place for non shows. I'm not sure why so many restaurants still haven't introduced this. Steve Aitchison Apart from the very small minority of people who have genuine excuses for not turning up, the people who do this are selfish. They should be shunned, the restaurants should have a system to share the details of no shows to prevent them continuing to do this. Until this improves, only 50 per cent of the tables should be available to book, the rest should be used for walk-ins and this should be clearly publicised. Spaces for People is a waste of money, trams are a waste of money. How many electric buses could have been bought? Buses are versatile, can be diverted when needed, trams are limited, far too expensive and unpopular with good reason. It amuses (and annoys) me when you see all the brake lights come on near a camera...especially the one down near the approach to Lizzie Brice's roundabout in Livingston.
