M8 traffic delays as motorway closed during continued search for missing West Lothian man

Lengthy tailbacks have been reported on the M8 after police closed a section of the motorway while looking for a missing man.
Billy McDowell was last seen on Tuesday July 28 at his home on Loch Awe Way, Whitburn.

Hide AdConcerns are increasingly growing for the 58-year-old who has been described as vulnerable by his family.
The inside lane and hard shoulder of the motorway was closed on Friday and Saturday officers continue the search for Billy.
A police spokesman said: “The hard shoulder and Lane 1 of the M8 between junction 4 and 4a will be closed in both directions on September 19 and 20 between 8:30am and approx 8pm to facilitate searches for missing person Billy McDowell.
“Please allow extra time for your journey if travelling in the area.”
