Police in the Lothians are investigating after the thefts of two high-value mountain bikes just a few days apart.

Both thefts took place in Midlothian, with bikes worth thousands of pounds being taken.

In one incident sometime between 2.30pm on Sunday, November 8 and 11am on Monday 9, a shed at a property in Bonnyrigg Road Eskbank, Dalkeith was broken into and a black/grey Cube Stereo 160 Race Mountain bike was stolen. It can retail for almost £3000.

Meanwhile another theft occurred at Pentland Terrace, Penicuik, between Thursday November 5 and Monday 9. Items including a blue intense tracer full suspension mountain bike, worth around £3800. It is described as having black Nukeproof handle bars, black Nukeproof seat post, white N17 seat and black DT Swiss 5.1D wheel hubs with DMR tyres. A Dewalt mechanic tool set was also stolen.

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in these areas during the times and dates detailed is urged to contact police immediately on 101.
