'Massive' police presence reported on Edinburgh's West Mayfield street as man taken to hospital

The incident took place on West Mayfield.

Police were called to the south of the city following reports of concern for a man.

A heavy police presence was reported in Edinburgh’s Mayfield area last night following reports of concern for a man.

Local residents described a “massive” police operation on West Mayfield near the junction with Minto Street on Friday night.

Officers attended the scene and one man was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Edinburgh Evening News: “We were called around 6.10pm on Friday, 12 June, 2020 to a report of concern for a person in West Mayfield, Edinburgh.

"A man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary Hospital by ambulance where he remains in a serious condition."
