Mercedes cars stolen in Broxburn

THIEVES believed to be looking for precious metals have targeted Mercedes cars in Broxburn.

The thefts occurred sometime overnight on Monday at separate addresses in Curran Crescent, Cardoss Road and Aitken Orr Drive.

In each case a section of the exhaust system or catalytic converter was stolen, resulting in extensive damage estimated to be around £1000 to £3000 per van.

This follows reports of similar thefts from Mercedes vehicles in Edinburgh.

Local authority liaison officer Sergeant John Jackson said on the latest thefts: “It would appear that this criminal activity has now spread to West Lothian.”
