Hearts hit new season ticket high as fans' backing continues

Hearts have now sold 5,000 season tickets ahead of next season as fans’ support continues despite anger at the club’s enforced relegation.

The new target was reached on Monday and sales are continuing even without a clear start date for Hearts’ 2020/21 campaign.

Season ticket income is crucial to every club during the coronavirus crisis and Ann Budge, the owner at Tynecastle Park, hopes as many fans as possible will renew seats.

The renewal period has now been extended indefinitely to allow people more time to purchase in light of current economic difficulties.

Hearts are still not 100 per cent certain which league they will occupy next season as Budge awaits news on her league reconstruction attempts.

She hopes clubs will agree to expand the Premiership, thus helping the Edinburgh club avoid the drop into the Championship.

If that fails and they are to start in the second tier, there is no guarantee they will kick off in August as some in that division are reluctant to play matches behind closed doors.

The Scottish Professional Football League took the decision to send Hearts down a division with eight games remaining when football entered shutdown, even though they were only four points adrift at the bottom of the table.

That left supporters outraged and demanding a legal challenge from the Tynecastle board. That option is one Budge will consider if league reconstruction fails.
