Snooker: Carlisle sets up last-eight clash with Chalmers
Robert Carlisle claimed the last remaining place in the quarter-finals of the East of Scotland Championship with a 3-0 victory over clubmate Stevie Dick in the Bert Demarco Matchroom at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange. 2014 winner Carlisle will next face three-times champion Keith Chalmers, who was made to battle all the way before securing a 3-2 win over Stuart Muir.
Defending champion Lee Mein is back in action tomorrow night against Ross Vallance in the first quarter-final.
Meanwhile, Craig MacGillivray was unable to stop the in-form Richy McDonald in Event 3 of the Scottish Masters Series at the Red Triangle Club, Cumbernauld, losing 4-2 in the final. However, there was success for Capital teen Dean Young, who made his highest break of 96 when qualifying for the final of Event 4 of the Scottish Under-16 Tour.
